White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs made the following statement.

“If you were planning on going to buy a car this weekend, using this program, this program continues to run, If you meet the requirements of the program, the certificates will be honored.”

Evidently delegated powers are working to transfer economic stimulus funds for the Energy Department to the clunkers program and is being backed by the Obama administration.

Robert Gibbs also stated that there has been no immediate confirmation from the administration on the $2 billion addition to keep the Cash for Clunkers Plan running. The program “is something we believe can, should and will be extended.”
